Johannes Mirecki is a lawyer, writer, and international business executive who has spent more than fifteen years living and working between Europe and Asia. Born in Hamburg and now based in China, he has built and transformed companies, set up teams across cultures, and worked in some genuinely demanding places.
Along the way, one question kept returning — what actually matters — and the answer kept changing. His writing is where he goes to hold onto it.
Johannes has written poems and short stories since early on. Over the past ten years he has worked on various book projects, and has finally decided to share them. He publishes weekly reflections on Substack, and is now releasing his first book.
Through his writing he explores the memories, feelings, and moments that matter so much and yet slip away so easily in daily life. His perspective comes from a life spent among cultures, with both feet in the corporate world. Writing, for him, is a way of stepping out of reality and making a little peace.
While almost everything felt more exciting to him as a child than reading, his interest in books grew during his student years. He draws on the raw honesty of Charles Bukowski and the quiet, unexpected beauty of distant worlds in writers like Roald Dahl — the humor of Dostoevsky, the sincerity of Bernhard Schlink, and Murakami’s way of looking at the world.
Alongside his work, Johannes coaches executives toward clarity, resilience, and a stronger sense of direction, with an approach rooted in authenticity, reflection, and practical application.
Outside of work, he finds balance in sport, music, and time spent across different cultures — continuing to observe, learn, and refine his thinking.
